Project 3- Art Gallery, Shop/House

My design was mostly influenced by Andy Goldsworthy, especially his large work "Wall". It is built from using found objects, it changes over different seasons and decays over time. Andy also plays with the connection of the wall . The concept of my building came out from the whole idea of land art, that is using found objects in nature to put together something beautiful and let it decay like the way it should be in nature.

These are the art works included in my building, most of them can be left to decay and changes over time. New art works will be made and put up at different seasons. Most of the works are by Andy Goldsworthy, some by Richard Long and Hamish Fulton.

The Site
The main reason why I have picked this site is mostly because theres a park behind to suit my scheme.
Park behind the site
The park allows me to play with Andy Goldsworthy's idea of connectivity of the wall, by continuing some elements of the building to the park.

Model Disassembled
My model is built by using a combination of different type of timber strips. The reason for this is because my building is strongly relied to the materialcality to suit my concept "decay".

First Floor Perspective -This floor allows the viewer to see the art works at ground floor, because most of the works in the gallery lies flat on the ground.

Ground Floor Perspective - Spactious view, overwhelms the audience when they steps in.
Second Floor Perspective
- Changes of floor levels makes different functions for the working table. It aslo devides private space and public spaces

Project 3- Reflection

Project 3 is my favourite project out of the three. I found it easier to engage with the assignment, because we are able to choose our own artists and we are designing for something that we really like. The skills we learnt in the previous two assignments are extremly useful and helped us to acheive a more complete assignments. That is the ability to build model, draw poche drawaings and analyse buildings with parti diagrams, and give feelings and atmosphere to buildings through using architectural elements. In this assignment, I was chanllenged to think about the relationships between the exterior and the interior and how it can be related to the site. I was also questioned if it is possible to have exterior qualities to be bought into the interior. Hence making my self to build a building that is mostly opened to the environment in order to suit my theme "Decay".
